Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) was announced by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) on 15 August 2014 as a merger of the then planned Thomson line and the Eastern Region line. A total of 91 new, fully-automated, four-car trains – the first in Singapore – and with more doors for faster boarding will be used to meet the commuters demand along the line. TEL will feature a total of 32 stations, a total length of 43KM and it’s expected to complete by 2024.

Thomson-East Coast Line will bring residents in the east and along the North-South Corridor closer to a train station and hence giving them faster access to the city.
